Heartgard Plus Chew is formulated with ivermectin and pyrantel. Both ingredients work effectively to prevent heartworm disease and eliminate intestinal worms for 30 days. It works to prevent heartworm disease by allowing the immune system to recognize and inactivate heartworm larvae before they can develop into adults.

Ivermectin eliminates the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) for a month (30 days) after infection. Pyrantel eliminates two species of roundworms and three species of hookworms in dogs, saving them from the discomfort caused by intestinal worms.
